Basic course
Die the introductory course tickle your fancy? Then go ahead with the basic course. You may book the trial course first and only then decide how to proceed. Off we go!
In the basic course you will learn everything you need to know about starting, take-off, ground handling, glider and finally landing safely, before finally taking off for the first time. Fear not! The flight instructor will keep a close eye on you and accompany you on the radio so that you always feel safe and secure in the air.
After you have passed the basic course you are ready for the certification course in which you will complete your high-altitude flights and manoeuvre training.
After the basic course, If you decide to continue with the certification course, you will put/piece together your personal equipment according to your needs together in conjunction with your flight instructor. In our basic course the equipement for 10 flights is included. After period of time, you need to have your own gear or rent it from our shop.
Since we are a small but excellent paragliding school, we have more time for each individual student and can therefore cater better to each participant. No more than 5 students take part in the basic course.

Procedure
We await you in our theory restaurant in Thun, where after coffee and croissants and a brief/short introductory round we first look at the theory of Take-Off and Landing technique.
Depending on the weather, the course will then be arranged so that we get a healthy/well-balanced mix of theory and practice.
Course dates
The basic course takes place in all weathers over 4 + 1 days. The last day serves as an alternative in very bad conditions. The basic courses take place with a min. of 2 participants.

Certification course
Now it’s going to get really exciting. As soon as you have completed the basic course, you can start with the certification course.
If you have not yet decided on equipment before your first flight during the certification course, you are welcome to rent gear from us for another 10 flights. After that, it is highly recommended that you get your own equipment.
On flight days the certification course begins with a weather briefing. Thereafter will fly high and practice manoeuvre training under the guidance of your flight instructor. You may take the theory test at any given time during your training as you see fit/as you feel ready. You may use the SHV E-Learning tool to help you study. Your flight instructor will be happy to help you with any questions, enquiries or obscurities you might have. Generally you can register for the practical exam after 50 flights, provided you have passed the theoretical subtest.

Since we are not yet able to offer our own shop, we meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Schärmenhof restaurant in Thun (Last stop number 2 and 5 Schorenfriedhof) unless otherwise agreed. There is enough parking space for CHF 1.00 per hour.
Those who want to brace themselves with a cup of coffee and croissants before we start the meteo briefing and discuss the daily routine. Thereupon we go to the flight area and examine the conditions and the flight area together. Flight instructions are then given to the students before we ride up to the launch site either with school bus or the aerial cable car.
The take-off instructor will then give you launching assistance and you will take off one by one. As soon as you are in the air, you will be accompanied by radio with the flight instructor, tackling manoeuvres together until you land.
After landing you will receive feedback from the flight instructor and your flight instruction for the next flight.
If possible, we alternate with other flight schools from time to time. This means that as a student you can benefit from other flight instructors and students and get to know new flight areas.

Biplace 1
What’s more, you can also complete Biplace Training 1 with us. With Biplace 1, you can undertake passenger flights with other certified pilots during training. After the exam, you can also fly with students.

- Upload a flight of at least 50km in the Xcontest (The confirmation of the participation of the exam is provided by means of a signature on the form «Participation requirements for the partial test of solo flights». The SHV takes random samples in the XContest)

Biplace 3
With us you can complete the Biplace training 3. With Biplace 3 you can undertake passenger flights not only with pilots but also with flight sudents during the training under flight instructor supervision. With the Biplace 3 license you can carry out commercial passenger flights.
